How to Play

Introduction

The goal of this game is to think differently about the work you do by exploring ideas from other fields of study and applying them to your own work.

Setup

Books: You'll need at least a few books from the 101 Things I Learned in [Subject] School series. Check off only the books you have on hand, and add any additional books to the list if needed.

Players: Select the players who will participate by checking their names. You can add new players to the list as needed.

How to Play

1. Click on the game board (near the icon in the center). A player will be randomly chosen as the Bar Raiser, along with a book and a lesson number (1–101).

2. The Bar Raiser reads the lesson aloud. All other players write down how they could apply that lesson to their work. Be creative—sometimes you'll need to think of the lesson as an allegory!

3. Once everyone is ready, they share their answers with the Bar Raiser. The Bar Raiser chooses the best response.

Scoring: Exactly one point is awarded per round. Click the winner's name to give them the point. Changed your mind? Click a different player to move the point, or click the winner again to take it back—the point stays movable until the next spin locks it in. If you spin before anyone has scored, you'll get a warning; spin again to skip the round's point. Need to fix a total by hand? Click the pencil icon to show − and + next to each player, then press the pencil again (or spin) to lock the scores in.

4. Repeat! The role of Bar Raiser rotates in a round-robin fashion, with each player taking turns. Books and lessons will continue to be picked randomly from the selected list.

5. When you're finished (consider setting a time limit or a number of rounds), tally up how many times each player was chosen as the winner. The player with the most wins takes the crown!
